World Green Roof Congress, Copenhagen - 18-21 September 2012

WELCOME ADDRESS FROM THE CONGRESS CHAIRMAN

On behalf of WGRC and our Congress Partner TFI Group I am pleased to announce that WGRC is to hold its third congress in the city of Copenhagen. For the first time WGRC has the full political support and backing, not only from the City of Copenhagen, but also from the Ministry of Environment for Denmark. I do not know of any green roof event, which has had such strong backing from both the host City and the country.

I therefore believe that this year’s Congress offers a unique platform for companies involved in green roofs and walls, whether they be large construction companies, green roof suppliers or contractors. Denmark is associated with innovation in terms of the climate change debate and therefore I believe that the marketing opportunities are not just limited to Denmark and Scandinavia but will be global.

The Congress committee has worked on improving the WGRC opportunities for potential sponsors. As we count down to the event itself we will invite sponsors to take an active role in the Congress website by including specified pages and blogs, which will improve their online presence. Our plan is also to have a committee of City Mayors from around the globe (or their representatives) to give a global theme to the event. This we believe will attract a worldwide audience that we hope to engage with directly through online activity of specific parts of the programme.

The successes of WGRC 2008 and WGRC 2010 speak for themselves, however I believe that WGRC 2012 will be a whole new story which will pack a punch that will only augment the uptake and interest in green roofs and walls across the globe.
